iPhone 17 Suppliers: Who Makes What

Last updated: October 15, 2026. Every row carries a label: Confirmed by company (Apple or the supplier said it), Reported (teardown, research firm or press report), or Unconfirmed (single secondary source or a model mapping no source states directly).

Apple launched the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max on September 9, 2025. Apple designs the main chips itself. The parts below come from other companies, and we've linked a dated public source for each one. For Apple's full supplier network, see our Apple supplier map.

Who makes the iPhone 17 chip?

Apple designs the A19 (iPhone 17) and A19 Pro (iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max) (Confirmed by company) [1][16][17]. TechInsights' teardown analysis identifies both as built on TSMC's N3P 3 nm process: the A19 Pro package APL1V12 with the TMUA28 die (iPhone 17 Pro / Pro Max) and the A19 package APL1V13 with the TMUA35 die (iPhone 17) (Reported) [2][3].

Who makes the iPhone 17 display?

UBI Research estimated that of about 88.9 million iPhone 17-series OLED panels shipped through October 2025, Samsung Display supplied about 57.3 million (64.5%), LG Display about 30.3 million (34.1%) and BOE about 1.3 million (1.4%) (Reported, research-firm estimate) [4][5]. OLED-Info notes reports that BOE panels would be used only in iPhone 17 units sold in China (Unconfirmed) [5]. Which supplier serves which model is Unconfirmed.

Memory and storage

iFixit's chip ID found a Samsung 12 GB LPDDR5X DRAM stacked on the A19 Pro and a Kioxia 256 GB NAND flash in both the iPhone 17 Pro and the US iPhone Air it examined; iFixit marks the Kioxia part numbers with "?" (Reported, teardown) [6][7]. Memory suppliers for the base iPhone 17 and for other storage tiers are Unconfirmed. Apple can dual-source memory, so one teardown unit doesn't prove every unit uses the same supplier.

Modem: Apple C1X or Qualcomm?

  • iPhone Air: Apple's own C1X modem (Confirmed by company) [1]. iFixit lists it as Apple APL1114 [7].
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: Qualcomm Snapdragon X80, per a teardown video reported by MacRumors (Reported) [8].
  • iPhone 17 Pro: iFixit's chip ID lists a Qualcomm SDX80M-001 5G modem (Snapdragon X80) (Reported, teardown) [6].
  • iPhone 17: reported as the Qualcomm X80 based on one early teardown [9]. MacRumors calls it "likely" [8] (Unconfirmed).
  • Apple N1 handles Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread across the iPhone 17 lineup (Confirmed by company) [1][16][17].

Camera sensors

A teardown video reported by Smartprix identifies Sony as the supplier of every iPhone 17-series image sensor. It names IMX903 (17 Pro main), IMX904 (17 and Air main), IMX972 (ultrawide), IMX973 (Pro telephoto) and IMX914 (18 MP front) [11]. Because this comes from a single report, both the Sony attribution across all four models and the part-to-model mapping are Unconfirmed until a second teardown matches it.

Battery

We haven't found a reputable, dated public source naming the iPhone 17 battery cell or pack suppliers. Some Chinese-language posts name pack makers, but we don't publish them until a filing, a supplier statement or reputable press confirms it. (Not yet confirmed)

Other notable parts (teardown units)

iFixit's chip IDs list, among others (Reported, teardown) [6][7]:

  • Texas Instruments: battery charger (CP3200 series)
  • NXP Semiconductors: USB-C port controller; NFC controller with eSIM/secure element (Air)
  • STMicroelectronics: power management
  • Apple/Cirrus Logic: audio codec and amplifiers
  • Analog Devices: ADC and DC-DC converter
  • Broadcom: wireless charging controller, RF front-end modules (Air)
  • Skyworks: RF front-end modules (Air); Qorvo: envelope tracker (Air)
  • Bosch Sensortec: accelerometer and gyroscope (Air)
  • USI: Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module containing Apple N1, UWB module containing Apple U2 (Air; marked with "?" by iFixit, so Unconfirmed)

Where is the iPhone 17 made?

  • India: Karnataka's Minister for Large and Medium Industries, M.B. Patil, said Foxconn had started iPhone 17 production at its new Devanahalli plant on the outskirts of Bengaluru (Reported, government official via The Hindu) [12]. Firstpost, citing NDTV and Moneycontrol, reported that the whole lineup, Pro models included, is assembled across five Indian factories run by Foxconn and Tata Electronics. Its plant-by-model split is Unconfirmed [13].
  • Earlier Apple-wide context (before the iPhone 17 launch, not iPhone 17 reporting): On Apple's fiscal Q2 2025 call (May 1, 2025), Tim Cook said that for the June 2025 quarter, the majority of iPhones sold in the US would have India as their country of origin, and that China would remain the origin for most products sold outside the US (Confirmed by company; it predates iPhone 17 and covers all iPhones) [14].
  • China / Luxshare: we haven't attached a dated source for iPhone 17 assembly plants in China or Luxshare's iPhone 17 role yet. (Unconfirmed, to be sourced)

What we don't know yet

Battery suppliers, base iPhone 17 memory suppliers, per-model display split, the modem in the base iPhone 17 (from a second source), and plant-by-model assembly.
