Steam Deck OLED: RAM, processor and selected component evidence

Sources reviewed:

This independently written selection covers ten components identified on the Steam Deck OLED boards pictured in iFixit's November 22, 2023 chip-ID guide. Its storage capacity, sales region, retail SKU and production batch are not stated. Valve's official OLED specifications provide separate platform context: a 6nm AMD APU, 16GB onboard LPDDR5 memory and 512GB/1TB NVMe storage options. Those specifications do not identify the vendor of every physical component or every production unit.

  • 16GB system RAM is different from an 8GB package

Valve specifies 16GB onboard LPDDR5 at 6400MT/s. iFixit identifies Micron MT62F1G64D4AH-023 WT:B and describes an 8GB package. These describe different levels of the hardware: a system total and an individual package. The table preserves both, without treating the package label as the Deck's entire memory capacity or proof that every unit uses that vendor.

    Sources: [2][1]

  • RAM, serial NOR and an NVMe SSD do different jobs

Working memory and saved storage are different resources; adding SSD capacity does not add RAM. The Winbond serial-flash identification is separate from the main NVMe drive. Valve lists 512GB and 1TB storage options, while this chip-ID source does not establish the examined unit's SSD supplier or capacity. Those fields remain unknown rather than being filled from an LCD teardown or another owner's drive.

    Sources: [2][1][4]

  • A processor, display converter and panel are separate roles

Valve identifies an AMD APU with CPU and GPU functions; iFixit's package identification is AMD/Valve 100-000000932. That supports the AMD processor role here, without assigning a foundry. The Analogix part converts a display interface. It is evidence about that converter, not who made the OLED panel. Valve also describes other internal OLED changes, so the LCD model should be researched separately.

Limitations (6)

  • OLED sample only: do not apply these board identifications to Steam Deck LCD, limited-edition display panels, other configurations or later revisions. The 2023 source date and our 2026 review date are different events.
  • The Micron 8GB description is the capacity of an identified package, not total system RAM. Valve specifies 16GB for the system. This map does not infer a package count, a supported RAM upgrade or universal memory sourcing from that one marking.
  • The SSD vendor, its controller and NAND, the OLED panel vendor, wireless module and final-assembly contractor remain unassigned. Winbond serial NOR is not the main NVMe SSD; Analogix's display-interface converter does not identify the panel maker.
  • Tentative iFixit identifications, including ITE's embedded controller, an MPS converter and an Allegro sensor, are omitted from this selected confirmed-attribution map. Omission is not evidence that a part is absent.
  • Foundry, packaging and component factories are unknown. A vendor name or Valve's headquarters does not establish manufacturing location or exclusive supply. This is not a complete bill of materials or a procurement-volume chart.
  • The evidence section is written in English. Other locale URLs use an explicitly disclosed English fallback until a translation is reviewed.

Preguntas frecuentes sobre proveedores de Valve Steam Deck OLED

7 preguntas sobre esta cadena de suministro, respondidas con los registros anteriores.

Who makes Steam Deck OLED RAM?

iFixit's OLED chip-ID guide identifies Micron MT62F1G64D4AH-023 WT:B LPDDR5 on its pictured main board. This is an attributed sample finding, not a universal or exclusive supplier claim. The guide is source [1].

Does Steam Deck OLED have 8GB or 16GB of RAM?

Valve's official specification is 16GB onboard LPDDR5 at 6400MT/s, in source [2]. iFixit's 8GB identification describes one Micron package, not the system total. The two numbers must not be substituted for one another.

Who makes the Steam Deck OLED processor?

Valve specifies a 6nm AMD APU, combining CPU and GPU functions. iFixit identifies its pictured processor as AMD/Valve 100-000000932. Sources [1] and [2] support that role; this page does not assign the foundry or packaging contractor.

Who supplies its SSD?

The selected chip-ID source does not establish an SSD vendor or the pictured unit's capacity. Valve lists 512GB and 1TB NVMe configurations separately. Winbond's serial NOR record is not a complete SSD identification. See sources [1] and [2].

Does adding an SSD increase RAM?

No. RAM provides working memory and storage keeps saved data; capacity in one does not add capacity in the other. This page documents components and is not an SSD or RAM modification guide. See source [4].

Does Analogix make the OLED panel?

The cited finding identifies Analogix's ANX7580 display-interface converter. A converter identification does not establish the panel manufacturer. Display-panel sourcing remains unknown in this map.

Does this map cover Steam Deck LCD and every OLED revision?

No. It covers a selected set of pictured OLED board components. Sample storage capacity, region and batch are unstated. LCD boards, limited-edition panels, later revisions, factories and the full bill of materials need separate evidence.
