Is Modelo beer made in China or the USA?

Modelo Oro is presented as a lighter cerveza, while Chelada draws on michelada flavors. Those product descriptions do not imply US brewing: the official brand statement specifies Mexican production. [4]

Same factory, different label

Modelo Especial’s pilsner-style identity and Negra, Oro and Chelada range distinguish this brand from Corona. The two labels’ shared license holder is insufficient evidence of identical formulations or batch-level factory assignments. [1] [4]

Constellation supplies the American Modelo business from Mexican breweries. Its 2025 centenary announcement identifies Especial, Negra, Oro and Cheladas within the brand family. [1] [4]

Who owns modelo?

US Modelo beer rights belong to Constellation under an exclusive perpetual license. This territorial arrangement arose from the Grupo Modelo US divestiture, rather than ownership of AB InBev’s entire worldwide business. [1] [3]

Where is modelo made?

Tacuba, Mexico is Modelo’s birthplace. The current Casa Modelo family remains Mexican-brewed according to Constellation; a historical birthplace does not identify the brewery filling a particular can today. [4]
