Mac mini M6: RAM, SSD and component evidence

Sources reviewed:

This independently written selection covers ChargerLAB’s China-market A3534 / MHQK4CH/A sample with 16GB memory and 256GB storage. The eight physical component records below are attributed to its October 8 teardown. Apple’s specifications separately establish M6 and N1 chip-design roles. Apple announced the new Mac mini on August 25, 2026, with availability from September 22. These sources support different kinds of claims; the teardown findings are not Apple-confirmed procurement disclosures.

RAM and SSD capacity answer different questions

RAM holds working data for active tasks; nonvolatile storage keeps saved data after power-off. More storage does not add RAM. Apple lists 16GB memory for the base M6 and 24GB/32GB purchase configurations, and says its integrated memory cannot be upgraded afterward. The Micron row identifies the examined sample, not those other configurations.

A NAND supplier is not the complete SSD supplier

The SK hynix row identifies NAND, without assigning its controller, firmware or entire storage assembly. Separately, MAQ reports board-soldered NAND in another 256GB M6 sample with less complete model/region detail. That is not ChargerLAB’s same device. Neither an unused mounting area nor this second observation establishes a supported plug-in upgrade, every configuration or future repair possibilities.

Port shape, protocol and controller are separate facts

Apple specifies two front USB-C ports using USB 3 at up to 10Gb/s, and three rear Thunderbolt 4 ports for M6. Those platform specifications describe the ports. A hub or display-bridge part number alone does not determine every connection speed, supported display combination or the capabilities of M5 Pro.

Limitations

  • Configuration boundary: these teardown findings do not establish the parts in M5 Pro, 10Gb Ethernet, other capacities, other regions or later production batches. They do not establish exclusive suppliers.
  • NAND is one component of storage, not proof of the complete SSD module or controller supply chain. An unpopulated mounting position does not establish a supported SSD upgrade path.
  • Apple identifies the N1 design. A USI package marking in the teardown does not establish who designed that chip; its physical fabrication, packaging and module supply chain remain unverified here. M6 foundry and packaging roles are also unassigned.
  • Component manufacturing plants are unknown. A device label or a company’s headquarters does not locate the fabrication of each component, so every geographic record remains Unknown.
  • This is a selected record map, not a complete bill of materials, supplier census, purchasing-volume breakdown or market-share chart. The evidence is in English; fallback locale URLs are not reviewed translations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What RAM is in the Mac mini M6 A3534 sample?

ChargerLAB reports two 8GB Micron LPDDR5X packages, marked D8JSW and identified as MT62F1G64D4AS-020DXT:D. That identifies the examined 16GB sample, not every memory configuration or production batch. See the teardown in source [3].

Who supplies the Mac mini M6 SSD?

For this 256GB sample, ChargerLAB identifies SK hynix NAND marked HN3T1HT2DAX435. A NAND identification does not establish the supplier of the complete SSD assembly or its controller. This page makes no assignment for other capacities. See source [3].

Can Mac mini M6 memory be upgraded after purchase?

Apple says Mac mini M6 memory is integrated into the M-series chip package and cannot be upgraded. Choose the memory configuration when purchasing. This official RAM guidance, in source [4], is separate from any claim about storage upgrades.

Does a spare SSD mounting position prove that storage is upgradeable?

No. MAQ separately reports NAND soldered to the logic board in its 256GB M6 sample (source [6]); it does not identify the same complete model/region as ChargerLAB. An unused position is insufficient evidence for a supported plug-in upgrade. This page is not an upgrade guide.

Who designs the M6 and N1 chips?

Apple’s sources identify M6 and N1 chip roles. This map records Apple’s design role, not a foundry or packaging assignment. A module’s package marking is insufficient to infer a different chip designer. See sources [1] and [2].

Does this map also cover Mac mini M5 Pro or 10Gb Ethernet?

No. Apple lists M6 and M5 Pro separately and offers configurable networking and storage. The physical-part findings here are limited to the stated A3534 16GB/256GB sample; they do not identify parts in those other configurations.

Is this Apple’s complete Mac mini M6 supplier list?

No. It is our selected evidence map, combining two Apple design roles with eight attributed teardown records. The nine organization names are not an exhaustive or exclusive vendor roster. Unknown component manufacturing locations are deliberately left unassigned.
