AirPods 5: earbud and wireless-case evidence

Sources reviewed:

Selected findings from 52audio's September 20, 2026 teardown, whose packaging transcription pairs A3441 earbuds with an A3529 wireless case. Apple independently lists those models for this version. Retail SKU, sales region and batch are unconfirmed. Apple's specifications establish H2 at platform level; teardown findings are sample-specific.

  • Earbud capacity and case capacity answer different questions

A case stores energy to recharge the earbuds; it is not a larger earbud cell. Its capacity cannot be substituted for the capacity inside one earbud, and neither number alone predicts listening time. Apple publishes runtime under specific test conditions: the wireless-case version is rated for up to five hours with ANC on and up to 22 hours with its case. Those are system-level claims, separate from component identification.

  • H2, a wireless SoC and a microcontroller have different roles

Apple names H2 as its headphone chip. Nordic describes nRF52832 as a multiprotocol wireless SoC; ST describes STM32L496WG as an Arm Cortex-M4 microcontroller. These device functions explain why a case can contain processors alongside the earbuds' H2. A chip's supported protocols do not prove every feature is enabled in this product, and the case chip does not establish H2's foundry or the earbuds' wireless implementation.

  • Match the case before comparing parts

Apple lists A3529 as the wireless case, with USB-C, Apple Watch and Qi charging support and a speaker. The standard A3530 case is a separate model. Apple also states the two AirPods 5 versions are not interchangeable with the other's earbuds. Start a component comparison with those identifiers; a list headed only 'AirPods battery' can mix accessories, generations and hardware roles.

Limitations (5)

  • Apple distinguishes this version from the standard AirPods 5 / A3530 case and AirPods Pro 3. Neither is covered here. A shared brand or appearance cannot establish identical internals.
  • Battery labels describe separate earbud and case parts; their capacities are not listening-time measurements. Factory locations and exclusive sourcing are unknown.
  • The source transcribes a China country-of-origin label for the packaged sample. That does not identify its assembly contractor, plant, or where each chip and battery was made; map locations stay Unknown.
  • Microphone, optical/force-sensor and speaker manufacturers, H2 foundry/packaging, and final assembler remain unassigned. Unidentified markings and tentative sensor/protection roles are omitted.
  • Manufacturer chip pages explain functions, not installation in AirPods. English summaries are original; other locale URLs disclose English fallback. No teardown photographs or complete bill of materials are reproduced.

Apple AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case supplier FAQ

6 questions about this supply chain, answered from the records above.

Which AirPods 5 version does this page cover?

The version with Wireless Charging Case: the source's A3441 / A3529 pairing matches Apple's model-identification page. It does not cover the standard A3530 case or AirPods Pro 3. Sales region and batch are unconfirmed. See source [2].

Is the earbud battery the same as the case battery?

They are separate parts: the selected teardown assigns ATL to the earbud cell and NVT to the case pack. Capacities and model labels are recorded above for that sample, not promised for every unit. See source [1].

Does a battery capacity prove the advertised listening time?

No. A component capacity is not a runtime test. Apple's wireless-case version has separate single-charge and case-assisted ratings under specified conditions; do not replace them with an inference from one cell. See source [3].

Does Apple manufacture every chip in this list?

No such claim is made. Apple specifies the H2 design. The case has separately attributed organization/role records, while foundry, packaging and physical factories remain unknown. Chip design, component supply and final assembly are different relationships.

Can this list identify the microphone or driver manufacturer?

No. Apple's custom-driver description is a design claim, not a named third-party manufacturer. This selected map leaves speaker, microphone and sensor makers unassigned. See source [3].

Are standard and wireless AirPods 5 cases interchangeable?

Apple's identification page says each case is compatible with its corresponding AirPods 5 version, not the other version's earbuds. This is a model boundary, not a repair or parts-swap recommendation. See source [2].
